“IT & Climate Change” Discussion at COP15

Just came across this video in which various stakeholders discussed the role of IT in climate change (as hero and villain). Basically, Greenpeace and the public sector seek quick, effective steps by the IT sector. IT sector responds with examples of how they are doing so and why this is in line with their business strategies and customer needs. At the same time, IT is still poorly understood: “Frankly, the majority of negotiators don’t even know what ICT stands for” – Malcolm Johnson, ITU (but I’m sure they have mobile phones, laptops, etc.)
