Stephen M. Ross, BBA 1962, today announced a $200 million donation to the Stephen M. Ross School of Business and the University of Michigan athletic department.
I thank Stephen M. Ross for his immense commitment to the University of Michigan and the Ross School of Business.
According to Annarbor.com, the business school plans to use the funds in four targeted areas, including:
- “A space to bring together faculty, students and corporate partners to create practice-oriented research on topics of key importance to local and global firms.
- Classrooms infused with advanced technology and innovative design to support in-person and virtual collaboration and connectivity on a global scale.”
I teach a class on design thinking targeted at digital services, and many of the projects have a sustainability theme, such as electric car apps, energy efficiency feedback systems in buildings, and online learning. Together with my research interest of IT-enabled innovation for positive change, I look forward to contributing to the conversation here at the business school about how to leverage this historic gift to support the development of leaders that make a positive difference in the world.
